Wool terry curry
The wool terry is cuddly soft and wonderfully warm. It is particularly suitable for cozy warm outerwear such as sweaters, thin jackets or pajamas, but also for cozy trousers and cloth diapers.
Cuffs and combination ideas
Our other wool terry towels are good for combining here, especially the matching printed combination fabric - giraffes on curry, with forest green and chocolate brown also harmonizing very well.
In general, our thick ribs in the tube for wool terry cloth are best suited as cuffs. We can also recommend mocha as a contrasting color for the fabric here, but cherry red and mottled green also go well with it.
Wool jersey is generally also suitable as a cuff or combination fabric for wool terry. Here, however, an elastic band should definitely be drawn in with waistbands.
For cuffs in general we recommend a factor of 0.6 (eg if the neckline measures 45cm, then I calculate 45cm*0.6= 27cm - and the 27cm plus seam allowance is the width of the cuff, which I then sew on).
The terry cloth itself is only suitable as a cuff to a limited extent - especially on the neck, we recommend either choosing a cuff fabric (see above) or sewing with a facing.
design samples
We are also happy to show some design examples in the photos that were made available to us by enthusiastic customers. Thank you again for that!
The sewn dress was made according to Nieke von Fadenkäfer's pattern with pockets and a specially modified collar. The printed terry cloth was combined with giraffes on curry. The headband was sewn freehand using instructions from Google search.
Wool terry fabric
Wool terry fabric
Our organic wool terry fabric (kbt, mulesing-free) is produced according to the highest ecological criteria. This fabric is ideal for the transitional period for pants, sweaters, pajamas, sleeping bags or as a jacket material. In terms of thickness, it can be compared to a summer sweat fabric. Also ideal for cloth diaper covers. Smooth and soft on one side and loops typical of terry cloth on the other. As far as we know, we are the first supplier in the German-speaking region to produce wool terry cloth by the metre. We recommend pre-washing the fabric as it can shrink by around 8%.
Characteristics
Characteristics
Wool is naturally self-cleaning and antibacterial. It absorbs moisture without feeling clammy and transports it outwards, away from the body. Merino new wool is very finely crimped, does not scratch and is wonderfully soft and fluffy. Since wool clothing only rarely needs to be washed - beating or airing it out is usually enough - the clothing is also very easy to care for.
care instructions
care instructions
It is optimal if the woolen clothing is simply aired out in damp weather (e.g. in the bathroom when showering). The water vapor that meets the fabric then automatically transports away smaller dirt particles and bad odours.
If there is mud or the like, you can wait until the mud has dried and then simply tap or shake it out.
If the clothes are heavily soiled, they can be washed by hand or on the wool cycle of the washing machine at 30 degrees with wool detergent. In winter, we recommend washing on a cold wool cycle, otherwise the difference between 30 degrees and cold rinsing water in the washing machine may be too great. Wool does not like strong temperature fluctuations.
We also recommend a pre-wash for terrycloth, as the fabric can shrink by around 10% depending on the washing method.
Since wool fibers are more sensitive when wet than when dry, it is recommended that wool be dried lying flat on a towel.
We advise against using the miracle brush for wool terry cloth, otherwise loops can be pulled onto the smooth side or the brush can get tangled up in loops on the loop side.

Wool terry can be sewn on the overlock as well as on the conventional sewing machine.
It is important to use a stretchable stitch (e.g. zigzag stitch, pseudo-overlock stitch, etc.) and super stretch needles. The needles are specially made for very stretchy fabrics and ensure that the threads are not severed when sewing, but pushed to the side. This way there are no holes in the sewing machine in the long run.
It may be helpful to lower the presser foot pressure on the sewing machine, or if this is not possible, use a walking foot. This prevents "wave formation" when sewing. As with other stretchy fabrics, it's a good idea not to start sewing at the very edge of the fabric, as this can sometimes "bite" into the machine. Here you can start sewing 2-3cm from the edge and sew up the beginning after a few stitches using the reverse button. Holding onto the protruding threads and gently pulling them backwards also makes it easier to start.

wool terry
... does not necessarily have to be sewn one size smaller, since the fabric is not quite as stretchy as wool/silk. On the other hand, wool terry cloth rolls up and lints a little when you cut it, so it is advisable to use a rotary cutter instead of scissors. It is not necessary to clean up before sewing.
