Valves Eco Hemp (Etaproof)
Ventile is woven from cotton and hemp and is a functional fabric.
Extra-long staple fibers are specially spun and twisted to create a soft texture, then woven at the highest possible density. The result is a dense, all-weather fabric with natural properties and exceptional comfort. EtaProof is rainproof, completely windproof, and boasts a breathability that can only be achieved with natural materials.

impregnation
In addition to cotton and hemp, the fabric has a very thin coating/impregnation. This coating is PFC-free.
Should re-impregnation be necessary, the manufacturer recommends the wash-in impregnation Nik Wax Cotton Proof.
Etaproof Ventile Eco Hemp has won the Sustainability Award 2020 .
Advantages & Features
Weatherproof
Protects against rain and snow.
Windproof
Very high wind resistance protects against cold and warm winds.
Water-repellent
The permanent hydrophobic impregnation makes the fabric water-repellent.
breathable
The fabric has a breathability that can only be achieved with natural fibers.
Sustainable
Made from renewable raw materials.
Soft and "calm"
The fabric is so soft and comfortable, it can even be worn directly against the skin. It makes no annoying rustling noises when walking.
Permanently
The valve retains its properties for many years. It does not become brittle, as can happen with synthetic materials.
Care tips
It explicitly does not need to be pre-washed before sewing!
The manufacturer recommends dry cleaning instead of machine washing. If this is not desired or possible, the following is recommended:
1. Carefully remove dirt with a brush or sponge. Close the zipper and turn the garment inside out.
2. Wash in the washing machine as a single garment in a gentle wash program (e.g., wool wash program, cold).
3. After washing, gently pull into shape, hang to dry and avoid direct sunlight while drying.
4. Iron gently at a lukewarm temperature. This reactivates the waterproofing.
Re-impregnation
If the garment is used frequently and may come into contact with sand and other abrasive materials, the waterproofing may need to be refreshed.
Recommended by the manufacturer:
Granger Extreme Waterproofing for Naturals or
Nikwax Cotton Proof or Nikwash Tech Wash.
Sewing tips
Avoid using pins while sewing to minimize holes in the fabric. We also recommend using a thin needle and finishing the raw edges.
Flat-felled seams are particularly watertight. Otherwise, seams are often the first points where moisture gets through. If double-stitching is too much trouble, you can also use seam sealing tape.
The valve can be lined with any of our fabrics. A material should be chosen that requires similarly infrequent washing; therefore, we do not recommend cotton or similar fabrics. However, hemp or wool are very suitable.
For a very light rain jacket feel, our coat lining fabric is suitable, for example. Hemp woven fabric or woven fabric in hemp/lyocell also works well.
If you want it to be really warm and cozy, we recommend wool fleece or wool terry cloth .
