The cork label can be sewn onto clothing.

We offer it in two sizes for you to choose from.

Care and sewing tips

We recommend a brief attachment with washable adhesive, followed by sewing with a straight stitch close to the edge.

Washing: Ideally, turn the garment inside out, wash at a maximum of 30 degrees using a mild detergent.

Do not dry in the sun or in a tumble dryer.

Here you'll also find a short instruction manual. We include this manual with every label purchase. If you don't need it (to reduce waste), please let us know in the comments section when you buy.

Why cork?

We spent a long time considering which raw material would be the most beautiful and, above all, the most sustainable for our label. When we then read about cork, we were absolutely thrilled.

With most materials, their use has varying degrees of impact on the ecosystem, and the best approach remains the sparing use of resources. Cork, however, is different. No trees are felled to produce cork; instead, the cork oak is stripped of its bark. This process can be repeated every 8-12 years for a single tree. Not only is the tree unharmed, but it's actually beneficial for it. And it benefits the entire ecosystem of cork oak forests, where entire families make a living from cork harvesting and thus maintain these forests. Since fewer and fewer cork stoppers are used in wine bottles, there are current concerns that some centuries-old cork oak forests will be felled. We won't be able to save an entire forest with our labels, but perhaps we can raise awareness of this fantastic material, which, according to the World Wildlife Fund, is one of the most sustainable building materials available.

Cork for labels

Sustainable, good, and beautiful – why is cork so suitable for labels? The cork used here is very thin and easy to sew. Cork is water-repellent and heat-resistant, and largely resistant to rot and decay (source: Utopia ), which is why it is also frequently used as a building material. These properties are, of course, also excellent for labels, as they are naturally washed more often.
